Green building is on the rise around the world, and Phoenix is no exception; we rank 28th in the nation among cities for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certified buildings. Sustainable building is one of the fastest growing construction categories and is proving to be highly recession-resistant. LEED certification has become an emblem of better construction fundamentals, and the lower operating costs of green buildings makes them more competitive. W.J. Maloney Plumbing is proud to have been a partner in several local sustainable structures, including one of the Valley's very first LEED certified buildings, the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) building.
Project Manager-Estimator, R. Alan Boughton is a LEED Accredited professional by the U.S. Green Building Council. Call him to consult on your LEED or green building project. With the LEED Silver Certified ADEQ building, Maloney participated in a "first" in environmental plumbing in 2001. Cooling tower water was collected in an underground tank, circulated through an ultraviolet light to kill microorganisms, and then directed into the irrigation system.
With the LEED Gold Certified Vanguard building, we plumbed the system that reutilized gray water from showers and sinks to flush toilets and urinals, aiding water reduction.
At Mesa Community College, Red Mountain Campus, we supplied low flow fixtures and participated in the builders' program to achieve LEED certification.
From low flow faucets and toilets to gray water recapture systems to innovative VE solutions that add to the value - and LEED points - of your building, we stand ready to partner with you on sustainable plumbing.
